Thirteen of My Favorite Christmas Tunes

1 - Little Saint Nick (The Beach Boys)       Seriously, who doesn't love a song by the Beach Boys?  I think I like most of my holiday music on the rockin' side vs. the reverent.   2 - Blue Christmas (Elvis!)       If you have questions about this one, you might want to have your head examined.   3 - Sleigh Ride (The Ronettes)       Jingalingalinga ling ling ling, baby!   4 - Jingle Bells (Bing Crosby/Barenaked Ladies/The Brian Setzer Orchestra)       Go check out "Jingle All the Way".  It is one of the new classic Christmas movies.  One that must be watched at least once a day in our home.  "POOT DAT COOOKIE DOWN, NOW!!!"   5 - Deck the Stills (Barenaked Ladies)       I just like to say "barenaked".  Especially if it's followed by "for the Holidays".  Plus, this is just a really fun and funny song!  CrosbyStillsandNash and Young, Crozzzzzzzz beeee!   6 - I Saw Three Ships (Sting)       This is one of the heppest versions I've ever heard of this song.  I'll bet you never thought this song could be cool, but it is now!   7 - Let It Snow (Michael Buble)       Man, does this boy sound like a swingin' lounge lizard.  I LOVE IT!   8 - The Christmas Song (Nat King Cole)       Can't hear this one without recalling the dysfunctional version taught to me by my mother.  Email me if you want the secret lyrics, but only if you're serious.  This is not for the faint of heart!   9 - What Christmas Means to Me (Stevie Wonder)       Old Navy Performance Fleece, anybody?   10 - It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year (Andy Williams)       Another one with special dysfunctional lyrics available, but an absolute MUST HAVE for the iPod in my home.  And any other oraface that puts out music.   11 - Christmas in Hollis (Run-DMC)       "It's Christmas time in Hollis, Queens... Mom's cookin' chicken an' collard greens... rice and stuffing macaroni and cheese, an' Santa puts giftz on the Christmas tree!!"  I like the loudness of Christmas.    12 - Silent Night (Boyz II Men)       Smooooooooth... like my dulce de leche hot chocolate.        13 - Mele Kalikimaka (Bing!)       Because this is my kind of Christmas!   There were more, there are more, there is more, music but they'll have to wait until next time.

10 Things On My To-Do List

 

1 - Go to bed (it's entirely too early to be up!)

2 - Make sweet potato muffins.  You know you want some!

3 - Find my damn drugs.  That's the last time I ask Honey to help me with that!

4 - Vote.

5 - Anxiously wait by the door for the UPS man to bring me my new coffee table!

6 - Trick my son into being potty trained.

7 - Figure out a scrumptious way to cook this pork loin roast I have in my fridge.

8 - Make lots and lots of playlists for my iPod with all my Christmas CDs.

9 - Email all my friends a reminder to go vote!

10 - Go to bed!  It's 12:14 a.m. for hell's sakes!

Thirteen Things I Like To Eat

 

1.         Pizza, but that’s a given.  Who doesn’t like pizza?

2.        Sweet Butter Lettuce salad mix.  It’s new.  I can’t live without it topped with a bunch of chicken.

3.       Potstickers.  I don’t want to know what’s in them, I like them that much.  It’s kind of like hot dogs.

4.      Jimboy’s Tacos – Original ground beef taco.  You gentiles won’t know what this is.  Us natives do.  It’s our little secret.  That, and fish tacos.  But only from Rubio’s.  You know what I mean.

5.       Tri-tip.  ‘Nuff said.

6.       Cauliflower florets, lightly dipped in Hidden Valley Ranch Light Ranch.  It’s important that it’s Hidden Valley.  Anything else is… sacreligious.

7.       Cheeseburger, ketchup & mustard instead of the spread, extra toast, grilled onions with a fry well.  Again with the gentiles - if you don’t speak the lingo, you really must move here and convert to the all-California, all the time diet.

8.       Sunkist Butter Glazed Almonds.  Mmm… buttah…

9.       Two words, HAAS AVOCADOS.

10.     King Crab legs.  No, not king crabs, that’s dirty!  Just the legs, I’m a leg woman.

11.       Dancy tangerines.  (Doesn’t that just sound sweet?  It is!)

12.      Lychee nuts.  Although, I don’t know why they’re called nuts, it’s a fruit!

13.     CHOCOLATE, need I say more?

Apple Harvest 

1.  Have you ever picked apples?   Yes, and it's loads of fun!  We used to go to Santaquin when I lived in Utah to do this.

2.  Have you ever bobbed for apples?   Not that I can remember, but it sure sounds fun!

3.  What is your favorite apple desert?   Apple Crisp.  Mmm... mostly the crisp!

4.  What kind of apples do you prefer?   Gala or Gingergold

5.  Do you beleive that an “apple a day” keeps the doctor away?   Sure, why not?  It's healthy, right?  Anything to encourage good habits!

Thirteen Things You Think You Know About Me   1.  SalGal.  It's not really my name.  My given name is Sally that Grrrl.   2.  My hair color.  Some of you think it's bleached blond.  Some of you think it's... diaper brown.  WRONG!  If I had never had one hair cut ever in my life, you would see that in fact I am a natural blond.  (Now you're really jealous, aren't you?)   3.  I'm nice.  WRONG AGAIN!  You see before you a woman with a black, twisted heart of rusty glass.  I once had someone towed out of my parking space at our first apartment in California.  ON EASTER SUNDAY NIGHT!  (But only after I sat there and honked off and on for 2 hours waiting for the tow truck.)   4.  I'm honest.  Ok, generally I am except that I lie profusely on my driver's license.  I mean, what are they going to do?  Say, "Excuse me m'am, you've listed your weight as 175 lbs. here and you are clearly six-and-a-half tons more than that!" ???  Right.   5.  I love all things Disney.  Except Minnie Mouse, so I guess that doesn't really mean ALL things now, does it?  (Yes, I know all the deep, dark secrets and I don't care.  Ruin someone else's ignorance-induced bliss, ok??)   6.  I'm practically perfect in every way!  Yeah... except for those one or two minor things, but they're not on my permanent record so bug off.   7.  Never had a drink of liquor in my life.  Except I didn't know that when using alcohol in cooking, it doesn't cook out in a crock pot.  All the hangover and none of the fun!   8.  I've got skillz.  Nunchuck skillz, dancing skillz, sqash-playing skillz, shopping skillz, Wonder Woman Invisible Jet flying skillz, the list goes on.  See #4.   9.  I'm great in bed!  Oh wait, that one's actually true!!  (How else do you think I got those three mood monkeys?)   10.  I know everything and everyone under the sun.  Oh yeah, that one's true too.   11.  Blue is my favorite color.  Except when it's pink.  Or white, or green, or yellow, or orange, or red.  Sometimes black, but then that's not a color now, is it?  Black is a hue.  Oh wait, white is a hue, too.   12.  I'm the smartest person you know.  Ehhh.... not so much.  I'm just really good at BSing.  Remember, Kaiser Solecei!   13.  I have the most well-behaved kids of anyone you know.  Well listen, if it makes you feel any better it's only because I threaten them with their lives on an hourly basis.  They know that if they misbehave while we're out that we'll kill their real family and send them the parts in the mail.   And there you have it, girlfriends!  My first Thursday Thirteen!  Now, I am completely technologically retarded so if I somehow did not use the right code the right way, or links or whatever, bite me.  I'm a natural blond, remember???
